Liquor Lovers is my only go-to for all things alcohol related these days. They easily have the best whiskey selection I've seen in a store, and on top of that will offer samples of any of their barrel picks (spoiler alert, it's a lot, and they're all amazing). The level of customer service puts it over the top. I've had friends and family members ask me "So how do you know them?" Because I was treated like a long time friend. Cannot recommend this place enough, and I always do when I get the chance!

Stopped by spoke to one of the assistant managers Arty, she was very knowledgeable about tequilas and I was able to grab a couple bottles of G4 which I've been waiting years to get. She was very helpful, they have an amazing selection of Tequila and other spirits that some stores in the state don't have.
Always worth a while to stop by and support local!

I'd seen Liquor Lovers featured on a couple bourbon channels I watch on YouTube, but didn't realize they are basically across the street from one of my favorite second hand/thrift stores in Ankeny (The Attic) and one of my favorite pizza places (Wig & Pen)...
I ventured in on a Sunday after picking up a birthday present for my gf. That's where I met the Jims! I was greeted right away when I walked in...and talk about customer service! These gentlemen knew their stuff and were really fun to talk to!
After a while I think I walked out of the store with five bottles. One a bottle I thought I've have to order online. Kentucky Coffee...an inexpensive bottle, but one that combines two of my favorite things. Bourbon and coffee!
While my interest is mostly in bourbon and whiskey the store has a great selection of beer, wine, and other spirits.
If I had to pick one thing that sets this store apart from every other liquor store... It's attention and customer service. And it wasn't just me. They treated everyone who walked in the same way. It was a nice change over other stores where the staff can't be bothered to look away from their phones or the conversation with their buddies.
Before I left I had a chance to meet the shop owner's son. A really nice guy! I didn't catch his name... But if he's any reflection of his father I'd say meeting him when the time comes will be a pleasure.
And Liquor Lovers supports their customers who serve...or who have served...with a 5% discount. Every little bit helps!
I'll definitely be coming back here when I'm in the Ankeny area...and I'm there a lot.
